Canadian VAT (13%) is added to all prices. The exchange rate used is 1 GBP = 1,61 CAD

Flat Rate Mobile Internet in Canada

Flat rate mobile Internet packages are available at 25 CAD (£15.50) for 500MB valid 30 days. When you start surfing on your phone, you will receive a question if you accept that 25 CAD is deducted from your call balance. When you accept the 30days/500MB package, 25 CAD (+13% VAT) is deducted from your call balance. Just make sure you have call balance available.

With our Canadian SIM Card, it's only possible to surf the net from the phone. Tethering with computer or usage in iPad is not possible.

Calls between two travellers in Canada using HolidayPhone

The rate for calls between two travellers using HolidayPhone equals that of local calls as stated above. If you are travelling in a party, we recommend that you order HolidayPhone for all travellers, so that you can make cheap calls between each other on your trip. To achieve this, just dial the local Canadian mobile phone number provided with the SIM.

Make calls within Canada and topping up call balance

Our Canadian SIM Card contains 22,60 CAD start balance for calls and Internet. Most customers add the long distance plan (10 CAD deducted from your call balance) to get the lowered call rates listed above.

You can choose to add additional call balance when ordering the Canada SIM card from us.

You can also buy additional call credit online at any time during your trip. The Canadian SIM card that is included with HolidayPhone is from the largest operator in Canada.

The Canada SIM Card is valid 30 days from the last top up, so it can last forever as long as you top up at least once every 30 days.

Calling the UK from Canada

When calling home using your HolidayPhone SIM card, just dial +44 without the leading zero of the area code. For example: 07511 223344 becomes +44 7511 223344.

Receive calls in Canada

You receive inbound calls dialled to your British mobile phone number just as usual as all calls are seamlessly forwarded from the UK to your Canadian prepaid SIM card without international roaming charges.

A Canadian mobile phone number is included, that can be used when people within Canada or travel companions using HolidayPhone, want to call you.

In Canada, there is a cost of 0.50 CAD /min (31p) for receiving calls (deducted from the call balance of the Canadian SIM Card). This cost is still a fraction of the cost for receiving calls with a UK operator in Canada, as with HolidayPhone there is no additional international roaming fee applied for receiving calls in Canada dialled to your UK number.

What if the call forwarding time runs out?

The HolidayPhone package includes 1 hour of free diverted calls from the UK, but you can easily add more forwarding time at a low cost when ordering your HolidayPhone package.

In case all your call forwarding time is consumed, the call forwarding feature will stop working, so you don't have to worry about us charging you any fees in arrears.

In comparision, it often costs £0.50-£3.00 per minute to receive calls roaming using a UK operator abroad, so by using HolidayPhone, you save £30-£180 for receiving 1 hour of calls on your British mobile phone number abroad.

Frequency bands in Canada

To use your phone in Canada, you will need a phone that supports the Canadian network frequencies. Your phone must support at least GSM(voice)/GPRS 1900Mhz, but preferably also GSM/GPRS 850Mhz for maximum coverage. Most of the 2G GSM/voice network is however on 1900Mhz.

To get full 3G data speed, you will also need support for 3G 850/1900Mhz. Most of the 3G network is on 850Mhz.

If you're unsure about what frequencies your phone supports - google on your phone model followed by the word 'specifications' and you will likey find it at the very top of the search results.

Choose between Micro, Nano or Standard sized SIM

When ordering, you can choose to get a Micro, Nano or Standard sized SIM card.
- Standard size is used in most phones.
- Micro SIM cards are used in iPhone 4/4S and a few newer phone models.
- Nano SIM cards are so far only used by iPhone 5.
