Calls between two fellow travellers in Thailand using HolidayPhone

Calls between two travellers using HolidayPhone cost the same as a local call, see above (i.e. 2.5p/minute). If you are travelling in a party, we recommend that you order HolidayPhone for the entire group, so that you can all make cheap calls to each other throughout your trip. Just use the local Thai telephone number provided.

In comparison, it could cost you up to £5/minute to make calls between two UK mobile phones if you don't use HolidayPhone in Thailand. The international roaming charges at both ends mean that the caller and receiver both end up paying astronomical charges for the call. It only takes a couple of minutes to regain the cost of your HolidayPhone kits if you're both using HolidayPhone, paying just 2.5 p/minute!

Cheap mobile Internet in Thailand

With HolidayPhone, mobile Internet surfing in Thailand costs just 49 Baht (98p). You pay no price per MB, no matter how much you download.

The Thai SIM Card can be used as a data SIM card in a dongle, ipad/tablet, MIFI-router or used for tethering with laptop.

The speed is GPRS, except in Bangkok where certain locations offer 3G. But GPRS data is more than adequate for emails and normal mobile surfing if you're not in a terrible hurry.

Top up your SIM card call balance

Note that our Pay As You Go SIM Card for Thailand comes with no initial call balance for outgoing calls and internet usage. You can add credit (top up vouchers) for the call balance according to your needs with your order from HolidayPhone. We provide 550 Baht top up vouchers that are easily activated by entering a code directly on the phone.

We recommend that you order at least one 550 Baht voucher with your order, so that you don't have to top up right away.

What if my call credit runs out?

At any time during your trip, you can top up your call balance with more outgoing credit for calls by purchasing more vouchers containing refill codes. These are sold in kiosks and supermarkets throughout Thailand, e.g. at 7-Eleven.

Calling the UK from Thailand with HolidayPhone

When calling home from your HolidayPhone PAYG card, you just dial 004 44 and remove the zero in the UK area code. For example, to call 07511 223344 in the UK, dial 004 44 7511 223344.
It is very important that you use 004 44 and not just +44 since using 004 44 is what makes the calls cheaper. The only time you should use +44 is when sending text messages.

Receiving calls in Thailand

You receive inbound calls dialled to your British mobile phone number just as usual as all calls are seamlessly forwarded from the UK to your Thailand prepaid SIM card without any international roaming charges.

A Thai mobile phone number is included, that can be used when people within Thailand or travel companions using HolidayPhone, want to call you. There is no cost for receiving unlimited calls dialled directly to your Thai number.

What if the call forwarding time runs out?

The HolidayPhone package includes 1 hour of free diverted calls from the UK, but you can easily add more forwarding time at a low cost when ordering your HolidayPhone package.

In case all your call forwarding time is consumed, the call forwarding feature will stop working, so you don't have to worry about us charging you any fees in arrears.

In comparision, it often costs £0.50-£3.00 per minute to receive calls roaming using a UK operator abroad, so by using HolidayPhone, you save £30-£180 for receiving 1 hour of calls on your British mobile phone number abroad.

Choose between Micro, Nano or Standard sized SIM

When ordering, you can choose to get a Micro, Nano or Standard sized SIM card.
- Standard size is used in most phones.
- Micro SIM cards are used in iPhone 4/4S and a few newer phone models.
- Nano SIM cards are so far only used by iPhone 5.
